Custom Homes

As most of you will know, designing and building “custom homes” is what we are passionate about at Glenvill. Our team has recently completed two homes...

 

East Kew

Our client’s site is quite unique in that it is deemed to be “flood prone land” as it is located on the banks of the Yarra River. As such, we were required to build the home approximately three meters up in the air. Our client’s now live in a magnificent “tree house” which has wonderful open living spaces and entertaining decks that overlook pristine parkland.

Our Design Consultant worked extremely hard with our client’s to not only satisfy these unusual building regulations but more importantly, to meet their lifestyle needs. There were many hurdles to overcome however the end result is a beautifully designed home that our client just loves!!

Malvern

The brief from our client was to design a home that is enduring and unique in style – something that is different from the trends of today and not of a by-gone era. It was important to our client to design the home around a rear central courtyard that would overlook a spectacular lap pool.

Our Design Consultant envisaged a wide two-storey home flanked by double garages that enveloped a beautifully landscaped private space that would suit our client’s entertaining lifestyle. Today they have a home of substantial character that encompasses an ageless slate roof, a deep coloured render finish enhanced by a striking verandah with timber balustrading. And it doesn’t end there . . . .

Our Interior Designer, Mr Andrew Huntley was also engaged by the client to complete the interior furnishings of the home. Very unique, very custom.

New Display Home

A new display home is not something that Glenvill takes on lightly. The design and finishes need to evolve and be thoroughly contemplated to ensure the end result will stand the test of time.

Our new display, “Avignon”, is currently in the final evolving stage and will be completed mid 2011. The home is classical in street appearance and yet has a mixture of modern and classical internal detailing that will provide you with an enjoyable and liveable home.

“French Provincial” is a term that a lot of people are talking about at the moment in terms of house trends. We do not regard “Avignon” to be such a home however we have used some of the strengths of this style in designing our display – mansard roof, deep front window reveals, beautiful moulded façade . . .

Home Lottery

Glenvill preparing to launch the 2011 RMH Lottery Grand Prize Showhome!

In December 2009, Glenvill were successful in becoming “the builder of choice” for Melbourne Health’s 2010 Royal Melbourne Hospital Home Lottery Grand Prize. So impressed were the judging panel at Melbourne Health with our professionalism that they awarded Glenvill the Grand Prize position for the next three years!! The 2011 showhome is nearing completion and will be launched shortly through various media outlets. The home will be open for public viewing where you will also be able to purchase your lucky raffle ticket. . .



General News

6 Star Standard

Effective 1 May 2011

On 1 May 2011, all new homes, home renovations, alterations and additions will need to comply with a new 6 Star Standard in the Building Code of Australia. This sees Victoria align with national energy efficiency measures.

The 6 Star Standard applies to the thermal performance of a home and also requires the builder to install either a solar hot water system or a rainwater tank for toilet flushing.

6 Star energy efficiency rating applies to your home's building envelope - it’s roof, walls, floor and windows. 6 Star requirements include efficiency standards for lighting but does not apply to plug in appliances.

6 Star homes are projected to use 24 per cent less energy through heating and cooling compared to 5 Star homes.

Your Design Consultant will be able to advise you on how to best achieve 6 Star Standard.

Q & A Session - Matt Rice, General Manager/Projects

Q Your position at Glenvill & how long have you been with us? Matt Rice
A General Manager - Projects. I first joined the business in 1999.
   
Q What is your passion/inspiration towards your career?
A From an early age I have always had a passion for property and I have always been very much focused on outcomes and delivery so to be able to combine the two and be involved in creating and delivering property projects is very rewarding. I still take a detour in certain suburbs and drive past major projects that I have been involved with and the sense of achievement still comes through.
   
Q Your suburb and family?
A We currently live in Balwyn with my wife and 12 month old son Cooper.
   
Q Your fave footy team?
A I have signed jumpers from Stephen Silvagni, Serge Sergio Silvagni & Alex Jesaulenko up on the walls of my office….Next question.
   
Q Is it true you were "discovered" whilst out on a particular site?
A This is correct. In my final year of studying my Construction Management degree I needed some part time site experience and took up a job labouring on a site in Toorak. Little did I know it belonged to the owner of Glenvill and from there I never looked back.
   
Q What path have you taken since that day?
A I've moved around various parts of the business which has given me a good grounding and understanding of how the business as a whole works. My passion has always been the big project sites and this is where I have spent the most of my time in Project Management roles.
   
Q Plans in the pipeline for the Projects division?
A Currently we have a pipeline of some 300 + townhouses to deliver over the next 2 years so its now all about delivery and upholding our reputation as the 'Brand of Choice' in the inner suburban medium density townhouse sector.
   
Q Secret to work/life balance?
A I'll tell you when I discover it…… For me work has always been a passion and something I have enjoyed so this makes it easy as I consider work and life as one and not a balancing act.
   
Q When relaxing, where would we find you?
A The golf course however with my current game I'd hardly call it relaxing, more working up the stress
levels. But I still enjoy it.
